Program objectives
The Sector Labour Market Partnerships (SLMP) program funds collaborative partnerships within or between sectors, populations1, and/or economic regions2 for projects that anticipate or address labour market challenges, investigate knowledge and skills gaps, and identify and test innovative solutions.
The program presents a unique opportunity for organizations to work together to achieve common goals. Our project-based investments are focused on achieving outcomes for stakeholders across the sector, region or population as opposed to a single industry or employer. SLMP projects make use of partnerships that support problem identification and consensus on priorities, collect detailed industry-validated labour market data, develop strategic plans with clear objectives, and provide opportunities to pilot and evaluate new solutions.
The program is open to exploring all workforce development issues but prioritizes projects that address the following themes:
- Labour Market Imbalances
- Skills Gaps
- Economic Transformation
- Reconciliation and Indigenous Workforce Priorities
1“Population” refers to a specific group of people such as the Indigenous Peoples of BC, persons with diverse abilities, or a specific population working in a sector, e.g. women working in construction.
2BC’s economic development regions.
