The Community Workforce Response Grant (CWRG) program will begin accepting applications for intake 1 beginning April 1, 2025 for training projects where the training start date is between June 16 and August 29, 2025.
The program has been updated in several areas; please review the new CWRG Program Guide before applying. The changes include but are not limited to:
- Applications will be submitted under one stream, the “Community Workforce Response Grant” stream.
- CWRG Priorities are listed on the Grant Overview page.
- Funding decisions will be announced for each intake period 14 days after the closing date. Please refer to the CWRG website for the 2025-2026 intake timetable.
- New project description and Employer Support Forms must be included at the time of submission. Applications without these forms will be considered incomplete.
- The maximum allowable skills training cost has been increased to $11,000 per participant.
- Participant Financial Supports (PFS) have been standardized based on the length of training. See maximum allowable PFS costs on page 10 of the CWRG Program Guide.
- Indigenous government, communities and business entities can train both Indigenous and non-Indigenous participants, and Indigenous agreement holders are still eligible to apply for an additional 2 percent administration fee to cover cultural supports
- For Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU)-approved programs, short-term occupational certifications will only be funded if included in the PTIRU-approved curriculum.
- PTIRU employer provided programs are not eligible for funding.
