What Funding is Available

Funding

The SLMP program is not a grant.

SLMP program contracts are deliverables-based and funding is provided through a Shared Cost Agreement (contract).

Payment for each deliverable is provided after it is received, reviewed and approved by the SLMP program team.

Project funding is subject to availability, and a project budget will be established as part of the contract negotiations. Successful applicants who become contract holders will be reimbursed for project costs upon submission, review and approval of deliverables.

Eligible project costs

The SLMP program will cover most costs associated with project activities, except for capital assets and business development costs.

Eligible costs for SLMP projects can be broadly categorized into two groups:

  • Direct Project Costs: These are costs directly related to project activities and have been estimated and rationalized in the proposal and finalized during the negotiation of the contract. They are incremental to the applicant (i.e. in addition to other costs that the applicant already has to pay) and are directly related to the activities that support the project.

  • Administrative Costs: Capped at 15% of the direct project costs, these costs are necessary for project administration but are related to the operation and overall administration of the contract holder’s organization in support of the project.

Right to audit

The Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, which administers the SLMP program, reserves the right to audit the use of funds at any point during or after a project.
