Recognizing Medical Assistants on October 19

medical office assistant Gwen Sheasgreen

October 19, 2022 is a day to recognize medical assistants across the nation

Medical assistants play an important role in the health care system. They carry out a variety of duties to help doctors’ offices, dentists’ offices, hospitals and medical clinics run smoothly.

They are on the front lines of patient care, ready to answer the phone or book an appointment, fielding patients’ questions and supporting doctors. It can be a demanding and stressful role on any given day, but even more so with the COVID-19 pandemic.

A career as a medical assistant is also rewarding and energizing. If you like helping people, have excellent organizational skills and enjoy learning new things, this high opportunity occupation might be a great fit for you!
