Trenton needed work experience

Leaning challenges created limited work experiences and Trenton needed help finding a job

Trenton was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and his developmental disability created learning challenges. He was often overstimulated in different environments, including work environments. As a result, he had limited work experience and had been unemployed for four years.

Trenton continued searching unsuccessfully for employment until someone told him about WorkBC services.

WorkBC Centre Central Okanagan staff provided him with one-on-one support from an employment counsellor who learned more about Trenton’s strengths and any accommodations necessary for his employment success.

Trenton appreciates that the staff at WorkBC Centre Central Okanagan were supportive and patient with him. They provided resume development, interview support, job coaching, and a wage subsidy. He said the best part of the process was that he finally has employment.

Trenton is now a permanent part-time employee in a custom janitorial position with Bliss Bakery in West Kelowna.
